Report from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council on the follow-up to the discharge for the 2015 financial year (Summary).
This report from the Commission follows up requests made by the European Parliament and the Council as part of the process for the discharge of the 2015 Budget and is part of the EU Budget Integrated Financial Reporting Package 2016. The ‘discharge’ process is the means by which the Commission is discharged of its responsibility for implementing annual EU budgets. A range of reports on financial management form the Integrated Financial Reporting Package and are examined by both the Council and the European Parliament. The Council then makes a recommendation to the Parliament on whether discharge should be given and the Parliament makes the final decision on whether to grant discharge. Throughout the process both the Parliament and the Council can make recommendations and requests to the Commission to implement in future years. This report responds to these requests and particularly focuses on the future of EU finances, budgetary and financial management, getting results from the Union budget, and the management of the African Peace Facility.
