REPORT FROM THE COMMISSION Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals across the world: The 2019 Joint Synthesis Report of the European Union and its Member States
1. The Joint Synthesis Report (JSR) (‘Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals Across the World’) reviews progress by the EU and Member States on supporting implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) internationally during the period 2015-2019, in line with the European Consensus on Development (the principal framework for the EU’s development policy).
2. The EU intends to present the JSR at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development (16-18 July), where the UK will present its own Voluntary National Review on progress on the SDGs.
3. The JSR consists of two parts: a short report on the EU and Member States’ implementation of the SDGs through international cooperation, and an Annex which highlights Member States’ contributions against each SDG.
4. The annex of the JSR highlights the UK’s expertise in many policy areas in international development, such as gender equality, nutrition, family planning, private sector investment and climate resilience.
