Proposal for a COUNCIL REGULATION amending Regulation (EU) 2017/1970 fixing for 2018 the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks applicable in the Baltic Sea
1. In January 2018 an amendment to the Baltic Sea multi annual plan (MAP) (Regulation 2016/1139) revised the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) range advice for the Gulf of Bothnia herring stock in line with the latest advice provided by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). This amendment increases the numerical value of the MSY fishing mortality ranges to 0.15 - 0.21. This proposal will increase total allowable catch (TAC) for Gulf of Bothnia herring (Herring ICES Subdivisions 30-31) from 84,599 tonnes to 95,566 tonnes. It corresponds with the latest ICES advice for the higher section of the MSY fishing mortality range.
