Proposal for a COUNCIL REGULATION amending Regulation (EU) 2015/2192 on the allocation of the fishing opportunities under the Protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for in the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania
1. The proposal relates to an amendment of Council Regulation 2015/2192 which allocates among Member States the fishing opportunities provided under the Protocol setting out fishing opportunities and financial contribution in an existing Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the EU and Mauritania. Specifically, the proposed change would modify the Protocol by including additional fishing opportunities for EU freezer trawlers. These new opportunities will allow EU (Spanish) vessels to fish for black hake, squid and cuttlefish within the limits of the available surplus. These opportunities have been agreed via the Joint Scientific Committee (“JSC”) set up under Article 4 of the Protocol and composed of scientists from both parties. JSC meetings are held regularly between the two parties to discuss miscellaneous issues such as changes to fishing opportunities or technical issues.
