Court of Auditors Report on the annual accounts of the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency for the financial year 2016 together with the Agency’s reply
1. The Report of the EU Court of Auditors (ECA) covers the annual accounts of the Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA) for the financial year 2016, together with the Agency’s reply. The report is accessible at http://www.eca.europa.eu/en/Pages/DocItem.aspx?did=42075
2. CHAFEA was established under Commission Decision No 2013/770/EU for the period 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2024, replacing and succeeding the Executive Agency for Health and Consumer programmes and the Better Training for Safer Food Initiative for the European Commission.
3. The administrative budget for CHAFEA for 2016 was €8.7 million (£7.79 million ) compared to €7.4 million (£6.63 million) for 2015. The staff numbers employed by the Agency were 58 by the end of 2016. This included officials, temporary and contact staff.
4. The ECA’s Statement of Assurance report confirms that it has audited the CHAFEA annual accounts for the year ending 31 December 2016. The ECA’s opinion is that the transactions underlying the accounts presented are legal and regular.
